How to achieve your freelance goals (faster and easier)
The buzz of my phone woke me up as I reached over with eyes half open to see who was texting me at 6:52 am.
To my surprise, it was an email notification…
I couldn’t believe it.
My new client just paid for his project…in full.
That was my first $10,000 day. It was a Friday, and I’ll never forget it.
Yesterday, I shared with you how by not being selfish I was able to start signing up clients easier.
That’s the first step.
But today, I am going to share how to achieve your freelance goals faster and easier.
Even bigger goals that seem scary or out of reach.
I was first introduced to this method by a successful millionaire consultant, but I finally understood it when I started applying it.
Here it is…
Work Backwards & Reverse Engineer Your Goals
What does this mean?
It means to start from the end.
Whatever your goal is, I want you to write it down and then work backward about how to get to it.
Start from the end of your goal.
Let’s say your goal is to get new clients so you can buy your dream home.
First, write down what it cost to make a down payment on your dream home.
Let’s say that number is $15,000 for a down payment on your dream home.
Now, let’s work backward to get it.
If you offer your service at $500 it’s going to take 30 clients to get there.
That’s only 2.5 clients per month to buy your dream home in 1 year.
But let’s be smarter. What if we could reach our goal faster?
Let’s say you increase your rates and you now charge $2500 per client.
It will only take you 6 clients to buy your dream home.
If you took on one client per month at your new price, you would reach your goal in just 6 months.
Do you see how working backward from your goal provides clarity on how to get there?
It’s like booking a trip.
Let’s say you want to visit Hawaii.
You don’t just book a random flight and hope you get to your destination.
You decide where you want to go (Hawaii), then you find the flights that will get you there, how much they cost, where you will stay, and all that good stuff.
Everything falls into place when you work backward from the goal.
You’re already probably doing this in other ways, but most likely not in your freelance business.
Trust me, this works extremely well and creates a laser-like focus for you.
Once you realize that your goal is possible your brain starts to figure out ways to get you there too. Our brains are smart like that.
So instead of $15,000 which seems like a big number, you only need to get 6 clients to pay you $2,500 to solve a problem for them (remember step #1?).
6 clients are much easier to digest and focus on.
And if you’re thinking, “I’ve never charged $2,500.”
Well, we can fix that.
That’s what I show you in my book.
You can easily charge $2,500.
Just like I charged $10,000 for a single project.
And as much as $60,000 for a single project.
The truth is, it’s up to you where you want to go.
In tomorrow’s email, I will show you how to create freedom using simple systems so that you can have more time to do what you want when you want.
